A graduate of Southern Illinois University, Jeanne Marcis serves as Senior Multimedia Solutions Consultant for Clipper Magazine throughout Lake County, Illinois. A wine afficionado, Jeanne Marcis enjoys traveling to California, particularly Sonoma County, to appreciate the practice of wine making and the history of the area.

Known as one of the top agricultural regions in the country, Sonoma County is home to more than 250 wineries. Visitors can taste pinot noirs, cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay made from grapes grown in the area. Due to the number of wineries in Sonoma County, the area offers a variety of wine-related events.

One of these events takes place on November 3, 2017, at the Jordan Vineyard and Winery in Healdsburg. The Fall Vineyard Hike lets guests experience wine country across the 1,200-acre Jordan Estate. The guided journey starts with a continental breakfast at Vista Point, which is the highest hilltop at the ranch. Guests hike for three miles through a wildlife habitat, near a cattle ranch and around secluded lakes. The hike includes a stop at the olive orchards, where participants partake in a Jordan Estate olive oil tasting. They then head back to the winery chateau for a picnic on the terrace. They also enjoy Jordan chardonnay and Jordan cabernet sauvignon.
