The process of creating a vegetable garden starts with determining which plants you want to grow. In most cases, starting small is best. Plant vegetables that take up little space, and plant only as many as you think you’ll need for the season.

Plant your garden in an area exposed to sunlight and water. If you have limited space, consider using raised garden beds or small containers.

Plant vegetables that grow vertically. While these plants appear larger, the majority of their mass goes upward instead of out, so they take less space.

Planting in rows is not always the most efficient option, especially if your garden is small. Instead, stagger the plants in triangles. This gives them enough space to grow while maximizing the space you have.
